Single Domain OV

Product description

Single Domain OV (Organization Validated) SSL certificates are a type of SSL certificate that provides a higher level of validation compared to Domain Validated (DV) certificates but does not reach the level of Extended Validation (EV) certificates.

With a Single Domain OV certificate, the Certificate Authority (CA) verifies the ownership of the domain name as well as conducts some basic checks on the organization that owns the domain. This typically involves verifying the organization’s legal existence, physical address, and operational status. While OV certificates don’t provide the same level of assurance as EV certificates, they still offer more credibility and trustworthiness compared to DV certificates.

Once the validation process is complete, the OV certificate enables secure communication between the website and its visitors by encrypting data transmitted over the internet. However, unlike EV certificates, OV certificates do not display the organization’s name prominently in the browser’s address bar. Instead, they typically show a padlock icon next to the URL to indicate that the connection is secure.

Single Domain OV certificates are commonly used by businesses, government agencies, and organizations that prioritize security and want to convey a higher level of trust to their website visitors. They are suitable for securing a single domain name and are often more affordable than EV certificates while still providing a respectable level of validation and encryption.
